Amazing installation procedure—never seen such a detailed and foolproof, surefire way of doing it, and it made certain that there couldn’t leave a speck of dust under it, to a confidence level I haven’t felt before. There is no complaint in that area, whatsoever, and you’d have to be very clumsy/careless to mess this up, I’d imagine.
Would definitely recommend, if you know what you’re looking for and what to expect from this product, go for it.
I must report that this is quite a bit different than what I typically expect out of a “anti-reflective” screen protector, and while it does reduce glare in ambient/lower lighting conditions, it’s not the sort of “anti-glare” property that you might get the impression of based on other screen protector makers that ascribe that term to their products (i.e. It doesn’t have a remotely paper-like texture and is more like the unprotected glass) and it is not as truly “anti-glare” as many other such products I’ve enjoyed in the past—maybe 1/4th or 1/3rd of the way there to it being so anireflective that it almost appears that the panel is not covered by glass, but rather an alternative (but not necessarily paper like—have had screen protectors that strike the ideal friction/AR balance)
In short: if you’re looking for the type that you can often find on Amazon (like Mothco, iirc) which eliminate the glass/reflective appearance more intensely, this isn’t the one. This is more like the Belkin “Anti reflective” one you can often find in the Apple Store.
One last issue I had is that it did—to my surprise (using an Apple OEM 16 Pro case with the new camera control interface, with this installed perfectly on the phone) suffer a moderate, angled (no OEM glass exposed, fortunately) chip on the bottom side just right of the Home Screen bar… Not sure how this happened, as I am gentle with my phones especially when they’re new, but I noticed it and can only attribute it to being caused by impact/friction against something else in my pocket.
The install process is crazy, and very reassuring that you’re not gonna mess it up, and don’t need to go to the Apple Store and get one of their limited selection options pro/machine installed. The effort put into this gets 3 stars alone, and another star for the visual/no-raindbowing & other qualities of the protector despite the unexpected chip (sometimes it just happens, but it also could indicate this thing is more fragile, especially being a new design for a new phone early in the life cycle), and despite it not being my preferred type of AR protector (no stars off for that, but YSK. It also fits the 16 Pro (standard/non-Max), with no issues regarding obstruction of the screen by the borders of the protector, which I heard reports of for the 16 Pro Max, and it was unclear if it was an issue for the regular. Missing star would likely be due to the questionable durability for the price, and lack of clarity on the AR-intensity, which led to unexpected/suboptimal results.
Good product all in all and I can see why people like these. Not sure if I’ll replace it with a more intense AR protector option.
